MARES Receives TRANSIT Award for Companies / Associations Contributing to Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development
The Macedonian Renewable Energy Association – MARES has been awarded the TRANSIT Trophy at the national competition for companies and associations contributing to sustainable development.
The TRANSIT project, in which Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, and EVN Macedonia participate, promotes the use of renewable energy and the transition to sustainable development through national competitions.
The recognition is based on our work over the past year to support the use of renewable energy. The competition evaluated candidates using the following criteria:
- Scope of work and efforts to raise awareness about renewable energy and/or train employees for sustainable careers and lifestyles.
- Measurable impact on end users in the transition to renewable energy.
- The participant’s demonstrated commitment to gender equality.

Over the past 12 months, MARES has remained dedicated to these principles. We contributed to the revision of national energy legislation, offering specific proposals to improve conditions for investment in renewables. We also organized public events and consultations aimed at strengthening dialogue among institutions, businesses, and citizens.
Accepting the award, Ana Kolevska, General Secretary of MARES, emphasized:
“We see this award not just as recognition, but as encouragement to stay committed to the goals we have set for ourselves. I would like to thank our members for their steady support and commitment — their contribution is essential to the success of our association.”
Ana also highlighted MARES’ efforts to promote gender equality within the energy sector, stating:
“We make a conscious effort to include gender equality in our work and aim to encourage greater involvement of women in the energy sector.”
Looking ahead, MARES will participate in the next stage of the competition at the International/European level.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us and continues to believe in our work!
